As supply chain manager for our busy manufacturing site in North Devon you will be accountable for:

The strategic direction for the Purchasing Function
Raw Material and Sub-Contract cost reduction
Supplier selection, delivery, negotiation and quality
Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities
Maximise the effectiveness of Material and Production planning
Cost and Revenue Forecasting
Incoming and Outgoing logistics

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the Supply Chain Team through developing and implementing robust strategies to support the business goals for the company
Develop the expertise and skills of the team to meet business goals
Work effectively and collaboratively with a cross functional leadership team providing supply chain support to NPI and QA where necessary
Optimise the use of MRP and develop systems and processes that give the company  a world class material and manufacturing planning system
Lead an effective SIOP process with the business and identify and manage roadmap actions to drive the process to be world class
Ensure adequate monitors are in place within the planning and supply chain processes to identify potential problems early enough for corrective actions to be taken
Implement systems and KPI’s to measure, control and improve supply chain performance against clearly defined targets
Manage the introduction & development of an effective vendor assessment programme
Support and comply with inventory policies ensuring correct safety stocks and reduction in supply and manufacturing lead times
Negotiate contracts with current/new supply base and agree LTA’s with successful vendors
Implement cost down activities across all areas of organization including make or buy and non-production items
Manage the rationalisation of supplier base and introduce supplier development programmes for key suppliers

Secondary Tasks will also include:

Actively develop the use of tendering processes to locate and secure the best possible sources of supply
Ensure systems are in place to effectively manage established supplier contracts
Actively promote world class purchasing standards and techniques for the business with a focus on continuous improvement

Core Requirements:

Ability to think strategically with an innovative approach to problem solving
Excellent negotiation skills with proven track record of cost reduction through use of appropriate strategic purchasing tools
Leadership skills with the ability to organise motivate and lead cross functional teams
Experience in subcontract management
Experience of working with complex internal and international supply chains
Excellent negotiation skills; knowledge of contract drafting preferred
Familiar with optimising the use of ERP, MRP systems
SIOP/S&OP Process expert
Degree or equivalent in Business Studies, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
CIPS qualifications essential
